William Straus has represented the 10th Bristol District in the Massachusetts Legislature since his election in 1992. Prior to his election as Representative, Mr. Straus served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bristol County for six years. He also was a member of the Mattapoisett Conservation Commission and was a founding board member of the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford. He also served as a member of the Massachusetts Hazardous Waste Facility Site Safety Council for several years. Mr. Straus is the current House Chairman of the Joint Committee on the Environment, Agriculture and Natural Resources. He has worked on a number of issues in the legislature including education, the environment, health care and privacy matters. He teaches Introduction to the American Legal System.
