Robert Kent Professor in Civil Procedure Professor of Law

A member of the BU Law faculty since 1987, Professor Bone was the 1991 recipient of the University’s highest teaching honor, the Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching. He teaches courses in civil procedure, complex litigation and intellectual property. He lectures both in the United States and abroad. He was selected to deliver the annual Boston University Lecture for the academic year 2000–2001 in recognition of his outstanding scholarship. He has published a number of influential articles in major journals such as the Columbia Law Review, University of Pennsylvania Law Review and California Law Review, including important new work on trade secret law, trademark law and complex litigation. A former lawyer with the Boston firm Hill & Barlow, Professor Bone has taught at the University of Southern California Law Center and has been a visiting professor at Columbia Law School and Harvard Law School.
