When vacancies in full-time lecturer positions occur, the program typically advertises in the Chronicle of Higher Education and on the BU Human Resources website. Initial one-year lectureships begin July 1 and end June 30, with the possibility of reappointment to two- and three-year lectureships. Full-time positions include a full range of benefits. We welcome applicants from all disciplines, including the social and natural sciences. Terminal degrees (Ph.D., Ed.D., M.F.A., etc.) are preferred. The full-time teaching load is three courses per semester.
Part-time lecturer positions are also filled during this time, though generally later in the search cycle, after all full-time appointments have been made. Applicants are encouraged to indicate in their letters of application whether they would also, or only, be interested in part-time teaching. Acknowledging this will in no way preclude their being considered for full-time employment. Part-time lecturers are compensated on a per-course basis, without benefits. Part-time teaching loads are one to two courses per semester.
