The Writing in the Disciplines program supports faculty and departments in a number of different ways. We offer individual consultations with faculty individuals or in small groups; we provide faculty consultants to departments and programs to develop writing plans; and we fund undergraduate writing fellows to provide direct writing support to students in departments.
Consultations & Workshops
The Writing in the Disciplines program offers one-on-one faculty consultations, small group consultations, and workshops focused on assignment design, scaffolding writing across a semester, offering writing feedback, peer review, developing in-class writing workshops, and other areas. To arrange a meeting or workshop, please contact Associate Director for WID, David Shawn at wid@bu.edu.
Writing Plans
The Writing in the Disciplines (WID) program, through the generous support of Jennifer Simpson and the Psalm 103 Foundation, provides departments and programs the opportunity to undertake a systematic and curricular overview of the state of undergraduate writing within the discipline in collaboration with a Writing Program faculty member (or WID Faculty Consultant).
