The Terriers Trek Through Boston Challenge!

April 7th – May 16th

Trek your way into fitness!

We are excited to announce the return of The Terriers Trek Through Boston Challenge, a team-based activity challenge for Spring 2025!  This year’s Challenge will be hosted on the Propel platform and will focus on a team-based approach and offers many opportunities for you to meet your fitness goals including the ability to earn fitness points whilst virtually traversing a custom map through our campuses and the city of Boston.

What to expect this year!

  • You and your team will use a custom map leading your team through our campuses and the city of Boston to get moving and explore your surroundings.
    • In order to participate in this challenge, you must be a part of a team of at least 5 people and a maximum of 20 people. You can participate in the challenge even if you work remotely.
    • Additional details regarding eligibility for participating in this challenge and how to create and join a team can be found below.
  • By logging your daily physical activity, you will unlock 10 different Boston locations. You will work as a team to reach 4,000 fitness point by the end of the challenge to unlock all the locations!
  • Although you are not required to visit the map locations to complete the challenge, our custom map gives you and your team an opportunity to explore our campus by highlighting exciting places to walk, jog, or sprint to!
  • Registration to participate in the challenge and Fitbit® device request forms will be submitted through the challenge platform. Instructions for Team Captains and Team Participants can be found in the links below. Please read these instructions carefully before registering to participate in the challenge.
    • Please note, even if you participated in the challenge last year, you will still need to register on the platform to participate.
  • The challenge platform can sync with several devices including Fitbit®, Apple, Garmin, and more. Please request a Fitbit® device only if you do not have one of the devices that can sync and if you did not receive one last year. *Fitbit® devices will be available on a first come, first served basis.*
  • If you require a Fitbit® device, you must fill out the Fitbit® request form on the challenge platform by March 21st, 2025.

Registration to participate in The Terriers Trek Through Boston Challenge will end on March 21st, 2025.

If you register on the platform after March 21st, 2025, you will not be able to participate in the challenge this year and we look forward to you joining next year.

 You asked, and we listened!

This year, The Terriers Trek Through Boston Challenge will offer more opportunity to challenge you and your personal fitness goals. The fitness points daily cap has been increased from 200 fitness points to 274 fitness points (approximately 20,000 steps a day).

All Activity Counts

Similar to last year, this year’s Challenge will count all types of activity, not just steps.  This includes activities such as biking, swimming, dancing, stretching, weightlifting, gardening, and more!

All physical activity logged will automatically be converted to fitness points. The amount of fitness points you earn is directly related to the intensity of the activity and how much of the activity was completed. All physical activity will earn points regardless of whether it is tracked by steps, minutes, or another measurement! Daily fitness points are capped at 274 per person for the purposes of the challenge.

 Be Kind to Yourself

While the focus of this challenge is physical activity, this is an opportunity to connect with your colleagues, focus on self-care, and have fun! Our number one goal is to encourage every participant to do the best that they can.

At the end of the day, remember to be kind to yourself if you don’t meet the physical activity goals you set out to meet, and we encourage you to support your team members to do the same. We’re all in this together to have a great time!

The Only Failure is Not Trying

The Terriers Trek Through Boston Challenge celebrates all participants of the challenge, not just our top performing teams. While the challenge platform will still track top performance, challenge prizes will be provided to randomly selected participants rather than the top performing teams. Give it your best shot, have fun, and support your team.
