SPH Convocation Student Speaker Nomination.

The student convocation ceremony speaker serves as the representative for graduating students and celebrates the accomplishments of the graduating class. The student speaker presents an inclusive and inspiring message for the future that honors graduates of all university programs.

Nomination Deadline and Information

Nominations must be submitted by Thursday, March 18 to be considered for the May 2021 Student Convocation Speaker. You can nominate multiple students and self-nominations are appropriate.

Nominations are accepted from students in the graduating class, faculty members, staff or deans.

Criteria for Eligibility:

  • Student must be eligible to participate in the May 2021 Boston University School of Public Health Convocation Ceremony.
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or service involvement while at SPH. This may include significant academic leadership, membership with student organizations, participation as a mentor/ambassador, or being appointed or elected to a leadership position with a university organization, board or committee.
  • Student must be in good disciplinary standing.

Selection Process

After nominations are closed, nominees will be asked to submit a letter of support to affirm their interest in being the student speaker and outlining three to four key points they would like to discuss in their speech.

The student speaker will be selected by a panel comprised of the faculty, students and staff. The panel will review all nominees and select the student speaker.
