Each spring, the BU Medical Campus campus erupts in a burst of color and activity as our community shakes off the final gray vestige of winter.

Career and Practicum Fair

The Career and Practicum Office hosted a job fair for on-campus MPH students, dual degree candidates, and recent SPH graduates in Heibert Lounge on Wednesday, March 26. The students connected with public health employers across a range of industries to learn more about opportunities for practicums, internships, fellowships, and other available positions.

SPH Researchers Table at Boston Museum of Science

On Saturday, April 26, a group of researchers led by Patricia Fabian, associate professor of environmental health, presented findings from SPH’s Chelsea and East Boston Heat (C-HEAT) study during Rise Up Boston, a special, day-long event dedicated to climate change education.

Students Deliver Class Presentations

Students enrolled in SPH’s two-part series of courses on academic writing, A Guided Epidemiologic Study (EP816) and Research Dissemination Seminar (PH880), have the opportunity to develop an original manuscript suitable for inclusion in a peer-reviewed journal, if they choose to pursue publication. Under the guidance of Koichiro Shiba, the course instructor and an assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology, the students work in small groups to develop a research question, conduct a literature review, perform analysis of real-world data, summarize their results in writing, and present their findings to an audience of their peers.

Birthing and Raising the Next Generation: Holistic Approaches to Advance Racial and Social Equity

BU President Melissa Gilliam delivered the opening address for a Public Health Conversation and panel discussion that explored racial and social equity in maternal health. “Birthing and Raising the Next Generation: Holistic Approaches to Advance Racial and Social Equity” was held in conjunction with the BUSPH Center of Excellence in Maternal and Child Health Education, Science, and Practice to celebrate the center’s 30th anniversary.
