As the spring weather turns drier and warmer, April and May are when the BU Medical Campus comes alive with the sights, sounds, and scents of the coming summer.

Comfort Dog Bean Visits Talbot
Ahead of finals, the SPH community was treated to a visit from the BU comfort dog, Bean. Her handler, BUPD Officer Geovanni Chevere, said he and the pup will be making occasional visits during times of heightened student stress, such as finals periods and around the holidays.

Power & People: Mapping Community Exposure to Energy Infrastructure
Jonathan Buonocore and Mary Willis spearheaded the Power & People symposium, co-sponsored by BU’s Institute for Global Sustainability, to share with stakeholders their first-of-its-kind database mapping community exposure to energy infrastructure.

Maternal and Child Health Networking and Alumni Awards Reception
Julie Motti-Santiago, Christine Silva, and Adriana Black were named winners of the annual Maternal and Child Health Alumni Awards, bestowed upon select SPH graduates for “their outstanding service and dedication to improve the health of women, mothers, children, and families.”

Class Project Supports Ways to Promote Wellbeing at BU
Students in Carol Dolan’s mental health course identified a variety of strategies to promote student wellbeing, including a first-year mentorship program and a series of political roundtables, and had the opportunity to pitch their proposals to a panel of BU and SPH wellbeing professionals.
