SPH Snapshot: October 2023
Scenes from the month of October on campus, including a career and networking panel discussion, health data science lectures, and the annual Charles L. Donahue Lecture.
Fall colors
For much of the past month, campus was awash in the colors of fall—and in the bounty of fallen leaves and nuts from the chestnut trees lining Talbot Green. A late burst of glorious weather sent temperatures into the upper 70s and gave campus a brief taste of the departed summer.

Charles Donahue Lecture
Established in 2018, the Charles Donahue Lectureship Fund supports an annual lecture at SPH that addresses the quality of patient care, measurement of healthcare outcomes, and the development of better health systems and policy in the United States. Each year, Donahue (below, left) and members of the Department of Health Law, Policy, and Management invite a featured speaker to the school to deliver a lecture on a current topic in this area of the health field to the SPH and BU-wide community.

Charles Donahue, left; guest speaker Rosemarie Day, founder and CEO, Day Health Strategies; Michael Stein, chair and professor of health law, policy, and management.

Guest speaker Rosemarie Day founded Day Health Strategies in 2010 to focus on implementing national health reform.

Nancy and Charles Donahue, far left, meet with SPH students after the lecture.
Mass. Public Health Workforce – MDPH Career Panel and Networking Forum

The expert panelists and recent alums provided insights into recruitment, tips for new job seekers to stand out as a candidate, and a look at the daily life of public health experts.
