Strong Faculty Interest in Case-Based Teaching.
Message from Lisa Sullivan, associate dean for education: We had a substantial response to our call for applications to attend the “Teaching by Case Method: Principles and Practice for Health Educators,” a 2.5 day workshop to be held at Harvard School of Public Health on January 25-27, 2013.
Two faculty were selected from among the pool of applicants by the School’s Education Team: Malcolm Bryant (IH) and Gouri Gupte (HPM). Selections were made on the basis of faculty interest, their plans for incorporating case-based methods into BUSPH courses and their proposals to share what they learn at the workshop with other faculty in the School.
Based on the strong interest in this workshop, we plan to look for and support similar education-focused faculty development opportunities that will help continue to improve our curriculum.
