Greetings from BUSPH Alumni President!

December 18, 2012
Twitter Facebook

Greetings!

My name is Isabelle “Izzy” Lopes, and I am the new Boston University School of Public Health Alumni Board President. I look forward to meeting many of you at future BUSPH programs and events.

I wanted to share with you some BUSPH highlights over the last few months. This fall, BUSPH welcomed the largest group of MPH candidates in the history of the School. These eager and motivated future public health leaders came to the School for the quality education, renowned faculty, and professional opportunities. The demand for these future graduates remains impressive: amid these economic times, 93% of the Class of 2011 secured employment within six months of graduating.

lopes-picture-webIzzy LopesAs you may have heard, Boston University publicly launched its first-ever comprehensive campaign in September. BUSPH’s focus throughout the Campaign is to raise funds for student scholarship and faculty support. The School would not be the success it is today if it were not for the previous generous contributions from our amazing alumni.

During this festive season, I ask that you show your support to the School through the BUSPH Annual Fund. The tremendous benefit of an Annual Fund gift is the range of its impact as the gift provides critical dollars that the School’s leadership team can direct toward activities that will continue to strengthen the School’s reputation and performance which in turn, will increase the value of your degree. I feel it critical to lead by example to support the Campaign and have pledged $5,000 over the five-year duration.

You can make a gift online by visiting BU’s giving website and select “School of Public Health” as your gift designation. If your organization has a matching gift program, your gift can make an even greater impact by doubling or even tripling. Thank you for considering a gift to the BUSPH annual fund before December 31st.

The Development and Alumni Office will be re-launching an e-newsletter slated for Winter 2013 to feature great happenings at the School. The e-newsletter will include a class notes section. I invite you to submit any updates regarding career positions, professional awards, additions to the family, etc. here. Also, if you are interested in participating on career panels or hosting student practicum placements, please enter your information here.

Your Alumni Board and I are committed to supporting our alumni and would love to hear from you. If you have any suggestions or ideas on how we can best serve you, we would love to hear them! Please feel free to e-mail me directly at isabelle.lopes@alum.bu.edu. I look forward to hearing from you!

I wish you and yours peace and happiness this holiday season!

Sincerely,

Isabelle “Izzy” Lopes, SSW’04, SPH’05

Alumni Board President
