Andrew Dreyfus Named to Dean’s Advisory Board.
Andrew Dreyfus, president and CEO of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, has been apponted to the BUSPH Dean’s Advisory Board to help the School’s leadership team bolster strategic planning and identify development opportunities.
Andrew DreyfusDreyfus heads one of the largest independent, not-for-profit Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in the country serving nearly 3 million members. In his Advisory Board role, Dreyfus will assist the Dean in evaluating strategy, provide advice on financial matters, and help secure philanthropic support during the School’s development campaign.
Prior to being named CEO in September 2010, Dreyfus served as Executive Vice President of Health Care Services for Blue Cross, where he was responsible for the company’s health and wellness, performance measurement and improvement, and provider contracting divisions. He also led the company’s collaborative efforts to improve the quality and safety of health care in Massachusetts, including the development of BCBSMA’s Alternative Quality Contract, an innovative model which is currently one of the largest commercial payment reform initiatives in the nation.
Dreyfus previously served as the first President of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation, which works to expand access to health care for Massachusetts residents. During his tenure, the Foundation launched a series of policy initiatives, including the “Roadmap to Coverage,” which contributed to the successful passage of the state’s landmark 2006 Health Reform Law.
He also serves on the board of the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare, the Harvard Risk Management Foundation, the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, Jobs for Mass., Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation, and the Board of Advisors for the Brigham & Women’s Hospital Center for Surgery and Public Health.
Dreyfus previously served as Executive Vice President of the Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA), and also served as the Massachusetts Undersecretary of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation, and as Director of Operations and Director of Communications in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Human Services.
