Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to share a quick update on the timeline for administering reward payments for the Faculty Incentive Program and deposits of Annual Discretionary Funds.

For the faculty incentive program, I can confirm that we will be making reward payments this year for the 2023 period of performance. However, we are currently in the midst of end of year reconciliation of the School budget, which as always determines our capacity to issue reward payments. We are iterating with the University on these details, assessing the fiscal realities, and expect to be able to share more details by the end of July.

For the annual deposit of discretionary funds, as of July 1 faculty members who are at or above 50% effort and who have a balance of less than $25,000 of discretionary funds will receive a deposit of $2,000. The policy was modified to include the threshold of $25,000 during the last update to the Faculty Handbook, which was approved by the Governing Council on January 25, 2024.

As a reminder, all funds in faculty discretionary accounts carry over from year to year and can be used at the discretion of the faculty member to support their research, teaching, and service activities, and to invest in their own professional growth and development.

We look forward to sharing additional details soon.

Best,

Mike
