Dear Colleagues,

Greetings! I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend.

As the academic year begins, I am sharing a brief overview of the communication channels that we use at the school-level to keep you apprised of the latest news, events, and important information:

Email Updates:

If there is an urgent message impacting the entire school, we will send an email message to all members of our community as soon as possible.

SPH Today: This is our main email internal newsletter, sent out at 6 AM every weekday sent to all faculty, staff, and students. It covers important announcements and events. If you only read one email from us, make it this one! If you are not receiving SPH Today, please let Cara Willis (caraw@bu.edu) know.

SPH This Week: Our weekly, externally-facing email newsletter sent Sunday mornings at 9 AM, this covers schoolwide news, profiles, research for colleagues outside of SPH.

Other newsletters include those at the academic department-level, as well as newsletters from Graduate Student Life, Career and Practicum, DEIJ, The Activist Lab, and the Office of Advancement (formerly known as Development and Alumni Relations).

SPH Calendar:

The BU SPH website highlights our School events via our calendar and also archives all messages from SPH Today and SPH This Week.

SPH Calendar: All events and programs at the School are added to the SPH Calendar on the website.

Outlook Calendar: To add the sph@bu.edu calendar that includes schoolwide events to your own Outlook calendar, open your Outlook calendar, click the three dots next to People’s Calendars, click Add Shared Calendar, search for sph@bu.edu, select “Public Health, School of”, and select open.

Community Events:

Public Health Conversations: Open to all faculty, staff, students, and the general public, these events convene scholars and practitioners from across the globe to discuss issues of consequence for health. Each program offers an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to engage with our speakers during the Q&A session.

Student Chats, Faculty Breakfasts, and Staff Breakfasts with the Dean: Casual opportunities for conversation with the Dean.

School Assemblies for Staff and Faculty: Monthly meetings for staff and faculty during the semester.

For any questions about SPH community events, please reach out to sphevent@bu.edu.
