I hope all have had a wonderful start to the summer. I write on behalf of the President’s Office with a reminder that all full-time and part-time faculty are invited to march in the academic procession at Dr. Gilliam’s inauguration on Friday, September 27th, 2:00 PM, at Agganis Arena. Dear Faculty Colleagues, The inauguration of Dr. Melissa Gilliam as Boston University’s 11th president will be held on Friday, September 27, 2 pm, at Agganis Arena. The ceremony will be full of pageantry and tradition, and we invite you to take part in this historic day by marching in the academic procession. You will join other University colleagues as well as delegates representing a number of colleges and universities from across the country in this special academic convocation. We ask that you please respond to this message to let the inauguration planning team know you plan to process. All those processing must be in academic dress. If you do not own your own robes, you may order rental robes (at no cost to you) at the same time you RSVP. It is important that you RSVP and order academic dress no later than July 31. After that date, you may process only if you own your academic dress. So that as many of you who wish to participate may do so, the University will suspend all teaching and administrative activities for non-essential services at 1 pm on September 27. For those of you not processing, you will receive an invitation later in the summer to attend the ceremony as a guest. We hope you consider participating in this milestone University event and look forward to seeing many of you there. If you have any questions, please email pres2024@bu.edu.
