Dear All,

As you are undoubtedly aware, Cybersecurity breaches are regularly on the rise. According to a the CrowdStrike 2025 global threat report, “442% growth in fishing operations between the first and second half of 2024.”

To better prepare us all against cyber-breaches, IS&T has been working on a training for all. This will be mandatory for all BU employees by the end of 2026 and SPH is participating in this pilot early on.

In that vein, we are excited to announce the rollout of the new training course, Terrier Cybersecurity 101 (2025). This course provides a baseline of cybersecurity best practices and resources at Boston University. It’s a big step forward for the University as we extend training to all faculty and staff.

Training will be assigned to all faculty and staff (excluding affiliates) on 11/10/2025. You will receive a training notification directly from Terrier eDevelopment and will have two – three weeks to complete the course, which you can access through the MyLearning dashboard in Terrier eDevelopment: https://www.bu.edu/hr/learningbu/terrier-edevelopment/.

If you are prompted to “Restart” the course, please select Restart to continue and complete the new training assignment. The training should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete.

If you would like a head start on this cybersecurity training, you are also welcome to view a recording of the recently held cybersecurity workshop held by my office and Graduate Student Life:
