James-Burgess1-150x150James Burgess, professor of health law, policy & management, has been named the new co-editor in chief of Health Services Research (HSR), an official journal of AcademyHealth. He will begin his new role on July 1.

Burgess is currently one of the senior associate editors of HSR, and chairs the Methods Council of AcademyHealth and its Health Services Research Learning Consortium. In his time as senior associate editor at HSR, the journal has seen a more than 30 percent increase in citations. Burgess will be replacing Jacqueline Zinn of the Fox School of Business Management at Temple University, with continuing co-editor in chief Patrick Romano of the University of California, Davis.

“Jackie and Patrick are recognizing my efforts in offering me this position,” Burgess says. “I’m extremely excited about this opportunity and a continuation of my efforts to push the HSR field further into a 21st century of better evidence-based policy, research, and practice.”

Published six times a year plus two special supplements, Health Services Research (HSR) is the flagship publication of the American Hospital Association’s Health Research & Education Trust, and an official journal of AcademyHealth. Rated as one of the top journals in the field, HSR publishes outstanding articles reporting the findings of original investigations that expand the understanding of the wide-ranging field of healthcare and help improve the health of individuals and communities.
