Berger on Chinese Missiles on Disputed Island

Thomas Berger, Professor of International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was quoted in the press concerning China’s recent placement of surface-to-air missile system on a disputed island in the South China Sea.

Berger commented on the tension between the United States and China over the missile systems for the Associated Press on February 17, 2016 in an article widely syndicated entitled, “US Accuses China Amid Signs of Missiles on Disputed Island.

That is meanwhile strengthening those in the U.S., especially in the Pentagon, who “will want to more vigorously challenge China,” said Thomas Berger, an expert on the region at Boston University.

Thomas Berger joined the Department of International Relations in 2001. Previously, he taught for seven years at the Johns Hopkins Department of Political Science in Baltimore.
