Storella on What to Expect from Trump-Putin Anchorage Summit
Ambassador Mark C. Storella appeared on NBC10 Boston News on August 14, 2025 to share his insights on what can be expected from President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin’s meeting in Anchorage, Alaska. This meeting comes amid growing appeals for peace between Russia and Ukraine, which have been at war for three years.

Storella noted that this political summit has an element of unpredictability looming over it.
“What I see here is that this [meeting] was put together very quickly,” said Storella. “And as a result, there’s a lot of uncertainty as to what will actually happen.”
Besides the rushed preparation, Storella mentioned that Trump may very well offer peace proposals that are unacceptable to the Ukrainians as well as the allies in the West.
Along with Storella, the segment also featured Democratic Massachusetts lawmakers including Jake Auchincloss who criticized the president for hosting Putin in America. Republican commentators, on the other hand, described this meeting as a key opportunity to advance ceasefire negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
