Yemariam Gebeyehu, BA IR ’26, Selected for Prestigious Meridian-Cox Foreign Service Fellowship

The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University is pleased to announce that Yemariam Gebeyehu, an International Relations student, has been selected as one of 20 students from underrepresented communities across the United States to participate in the inaugural Meridian-Cox Foreign Service Fellowship for Emerging Leaders in Washington, DC this summer.

The Meridian-Cox Foreign Service Fellowship is a fully-paid enrichment and training program designed to expand awareness and access to Foreign Service careers. This prestigious fellowship, a partnership among Meridian International Center, the Una Chapman Cox Foundation, and Community Colleges for International Development, provides undergraduate students with insight into American diplomacy while highlighting educational, internship, and career paths within the U.S. Foreign Service.

The fellowship takes place from June 23 to June 29, 2024, in Washington, DC. It includes a full-day visit to the U.S. Department of State, an interactive two-day diplomatic skills training course, a diplomacy simulation, panel discussions with representatives from the broader U.S. Foreign Service apparatus, and site visits. Fellows will also participate in tours of Washington monuments and cultural activities.

Yemariam’s selection for this prestigious fellowship reflects the high caliber of students at the Pardee School and it’s commitment to preparing the next generation of global leaders.
