Heine Speaks at LAC-Business Forum
On April 24, 2023, Jorge Heine, Research Professor at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies and Interim Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, was invited by the Latin American Development Bank (CAF) to be a featured speaker at the LAC-Business Forum held in Panama City on the occasion of the visit of Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar to Panama. Other featured speakers included the foreign minister of Panama and India, as well as business leaders from both countries.
In his presentation, Amb. Heine spoke about the evolution of Indo-Latin American relations, the opportunities they offer to the region’s development and the new diplomatic charm offensive India is undertaking in the region. The latter has included two visits by Minister Jaishankar in the past twelve months and the opening of new embassies in Paraguay and the Dominican Republic.
Ambassador Jorge Heine is a Research Professor at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. He has served as ambassador of Chile to China (2014-2017), to India (2003-2007), and to South Africa (1994-1999), and as a Cabinet Minister in the Chilean Government.
