Adil NajamDean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, appeared on multiple international news channels after the January 6 siege on the United States Capitol to discuss the incident and what it means for American democracy.

In the day’s following, Najam spoke with multiple television stations – predominantly in Pakistan and Southeast Asia – including GNN, Hum News, Dunya News, and Geo News. In all of his comments, Najam discussed the gravity of this event.

Najam called out the ever growing divide between political ideologies and the seemingly broken political environment in the U.S., which he has previously referred to as “The Angst of America.” He said that images of the Capitol siege have already had a profound impact on U.S. image abroad, and that President-elect Joe Biden will be faced with the challenge of rebuilding the country’s moral legitimacy to friends and foes abroad.
