Najam Keynotes on Diaspora Philanthropy in Houston
Dean Adil Najam of the Pardee School School of Global Studies at Boston Univeristy presented a keynote address on diaspora philanthropy at the annual chapters meeting of The Citizens Foundation (TCF) held in Houston on February 14-16, 2020.
Amongst other areas of research, Najam was author of the book Pakistanis in America: Portrait of a Giving Community (2006), co-editor (with Pardee School Professor Susan Eckstein) of How Immigrants Impact their Homelands (2013) and more recently the lead author of the 2017 Pakistan National Human Development Report on Youth. Based on these works, Najam’s keynote focussed on the trends in diaspora philanthropy in general and more specific trends in Pakistan. His key argument was that in Pakistan itself and amongst Pakistani-Americans, the young now are a driving force and are already determining the direction of the community as a whole.
Adil Najam is the inaugural Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University and was the former Vice Chancellor of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in Lahore, Pakistan. Read more on him here.
