PSI Hosts Panel on Covert Action and Foreign Policy

The Policy and Security Initiative (PSI) at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University hosted a February 27, 2019 panel discussion on  secrecy and covert action in foreign policy.

The panel discussion, entitled “Undercover: Secrecy, Covert Action, and American Foreign Policy,” featured Lindsey O’Rourke, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Boston College, and Austin Carson, Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago. The discussion was moderated by Joshua Shifrinson, Pardee School Assistant Professor of International Relations.

The Pardee School Policy and Security Initiative, funded by the Pardee School and the Charles Koch Foundation, brings together students, faculty, outside experts, and policymakers to strengthen Boston University’s research, education, training and curriculum development on pressing issues of international and national security. Building on the Pardee School’s rich tradition in international security and diplomatic history and its specific mission to advance human progress, PSI aims to become a powerhouse of research, teaching and professional training in security. In addition to hosting regular colloquia and workshops with top scholars and practitioners to discuss the changing security landscape and the ways in which scholarship can inform policy, PSI also offers faculty and student seed grants for independent research on international security issues.
