The Global Development Policy (GDP) Center, an affiliated center of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, announced their inaugural Summer in the Field Research Fellows for 2018 — including one Pardee School student.

The GDP Center Summer in the Field Research Fellows receive stipends to participate in internship opportunities and field research related to the mission of the GDP Center to advance policy-oriented research for financial stability, human well-being, and environmental sustainability across the globe.

The 2018 Summer in the Field Research Fellows represent three different schools across Boston University including the School of Public Health (SPH), the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) – Economics Department, and the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies.

The 2018 fellows include Federico Pisani (Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, MA candidate), Rebecca Olson (BU School of Public Health, MPH candidate) and Gedeon Lim (BU Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, PhD candidate in Economics).

Each fellow has a unique area of research focused on a topical area for the GDP Center: Federico Pisani‘s study investigates the impact of social networks on family planning in Jaunpur, India; Rebecca Olson‘s internship with Tag International Development seeks to use a digital health tracking platform to encourage pre/post natal health in Shan State, Myanmar; and Gedeon Lim‘s field research focuses on feudal land institutions and state capacity in West Java, Indonesia. The 2018 Summer in the Field Fellows will present their experiences and research at the GDP Center this fall.

The GDP Center is a university-wide research center in partnership with the Office of the Vice President and Associate Provost for Research and the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies.
