Keylor Delivers Talk on Wilsonian Internationalism
William Keylor, Professor of International Relations and History at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, presented the closing speech at an international conference in Rome on December 1, 2017.
The title of the conference, which was sponsored by the University of Rome, was “1917: The Beginning of the American Century.” Keylor’s address was titled “Wilsonian Internationalism and the Test of Time.”
In the speech he addressed the long term consequences of the four major objectives of Wilsonian foreign policy unveiled in the last year of World War I and at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919: democracy promotion, universal disarmament, collective security, and national self-determination.
Keylor served four consecutive terms as Chairman of the Department of History at Boston University (1988-2000) and has been Director of the International History Institute since 1999. At Boston University, he has received the Metcalf Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Methodist Scholar-Teacher Award.
