Gallagher on CNN: China Doubles Down in Latin America

Kevin Gallagher, Professor of Global Development Policy at the  Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, said that while China has faced many unexpected roadblocks while pouring nearly $30 billion in loans to Latin American governments last year, the country is doubling down on its investments.

Gallagher was quoted in a February 11, 2016 article on CNN Money entitled “Latin America: China’s Power Play Right Under the U.S.

“China underestimated challenges that it would face in the region,” says Kevin Gallagher, a Boston University professor and China-Latin America expert. But “while the rest of the investment community has turned sour on Latin America, China is doubling down.”
