PGC Calls for 2016 Conference Papers
The Pardee Graduate Council (PGC), the official graduate student organization of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, has issued a call for papers for their 2016 student research conference, to be held February 19-20, 2016.
Each year in the spring semester, the PGC organizes a graduate student conference, centered around a theme chosen by the students. The conference draws graduate students from the many colleges and universities throughout the Boston area and beyond. The 2016 conference will be the fifth annual conference.
The theme of the 2016 conference is “Shifting Global Systems?” Papers should address the thematic focus of “shifting global systems” by identifying dynamic changes taking place globally and assessing their propensity to impact relationships around the world. Submissions must be the product of graduate research, either at the MA or PhD level. Expected papers should be between 20 and 50 pages double-spaced, and presentations will be 15
minutes with time for questions afterwards.
Panels will be organized into themes based on accepted papers. Proposed panel topics include trade and finance; media and communication; environmental governance; human development; political systems and ideologies; and religion and beliefs.
The 2015 conference was organized around the theme of “Global Development, Peace and Security: Advancing Human Progress.” It was attended by student researchers from across the country.
Abstracts and a résumé should be sent to pardeegc.bu@gmail.com by January 8, 2016. Final decisions will be announced via email on January 20, 2016.
