Amb. Paul Hare in Reuters on Cuba’s Economic Woes

cuba-pesos.siAmb. Paul Hare, who teaches courses in diplomacy and in Cuban politics at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, is quoted by Reuters in a news story on Cuba’s economic woes and their political impact.

In the report titled ‘As Cuban economy stagnates, economists press for deeper reforms,’ (October 24, 2014), Amb. Paul Hare is quoted as pointing out that while there is a brewing economic crisis and even though there are many calling for reform, “there is still no blueprint as to where the major state-controlled sectors will be in 5 or 10 years time.”

Amb. Paul Hare has served as the United Kingdom’s ambasador to Cuba (2001-04). He teaches classes on Diplomacy and on Cuba in Transition at the Pardee School. His novel, “Moncada – A Cuban Story”, set in modern Cuba, was published in May 2010. A new book on diplomacy, “Making Diplomacy Work: Intelligent Innovation for the Modern World,” will be published by SAGE publications in early 2015.
