Maruška Vizek

Visiting Associate Professor, Administrative Sciences

Dr. Maruška Vizek is a visiting associate professor of finance at Boston University’s Metropolitan College. She brings over twenty years of academic research experience in economics and finance, with areas of expertise that include international finance, tourism economics, housing economics, energy economics, and international macroeconomics. Her research has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Empirical Finance, Regional Studies, Tourism Management, Energy Economics, and Annals of Tourism Research, earning broad recognition within the scholarly community.

Dr. Vizek has held several leadership roles at the Institute of Economics, Zagreb, Croatia, where she currently serves as a research fellow. From 2014 to 2024, she held positions as director and deputy director of the Institute. In addition to her academic career, she has extensive experience in governance and public service. She previously served on the boards of a commercial bank and Croatia’s largest utility company. She has also been appointed to advisory committees serving both the current and former presidents of the Republic of Croatia, and was a member of the Fiscal Policy Commission, a parliamentary body responsible for overseeing the implementation of fiscal policy.

Dr. Vizek holds the rank of full professor with tenure at the University of Rijeka, Croatia. Prior to that, she was a lecturer at the AACSB-accredited Zagreb School of Economics and Management.
