Prof. Nolan Quoted in Article on Surveillance Cameras

Criminal Justice Professor Tom Nolan was quoted in the Baton Rouge Advocate about the use of anti-crime surveillance systems by the city-parish government. In the article, he provides insight into the costs of implementing such systems.

Tom Nolan, associate professor of criminal justice at Boston University, said companies selling such security systems often make inflated claims about what the systems can do. Nolan said companies often make large sums from annual maintenance fees for such systems, which can be as much as 15 percent of what it cost to buy and install the equipment.
