MET Assistant Director of Educational Technology & Innovation Wins BU’s 2025 Perkins Award for Distinguished Service
Andrew Abrahamson (CFA’91), Metropolitan College’s assistant director of educational technology and innovation, is among the three winners of Boston University’s 2025 John S. Perkins Award for Distinguished Service.
Abrahamson, who has been at MET for 13 years, is credited with exemplary service in his role supporting educational technologies tailored to MET needs.
“Andrew takes personal responsibility in all aspects of his work,” said Leo Burstein, MET’s executive director of educational technology and innovation. “From supporting faculty and students with technology-related questions to developing complex software applications that enhance the academic ecosystem at MET and beyond, he demonstrates care, precision, and continuous commitment. His deep institutional knowledge makes him an invaluable member of our team.”
In an interview with BU Today, Abrahamson said that the most rewarding aspect of his work “is the opportunity to bridge the gap between technology and people—helping others feel empowered rather than overwhelmed.”
Established in 1981 and funded by an endowment from the estate of John S. Perkins, a late BU trustee, administrator, and faculty member, the Distinguished Service Award is an annual staff recognition for exceptional service to the University. Honorees are nominated by faculty and are granted a $500 honorarium as well as a plaque.
