Alum Sings BU Prison Education Program's Praises

For over forty years, the MET Prison Education Program has offered incarcerated individuals in the Massachusetts prison system the opportunity to pursue undergraduate study. Jose Bou (MET’08) earned his Bachelor of Liberal Science in Interdisciplinary Studies through the program, and recently spoke with NPR about his experiences. “It’s like being released every day. The teachers who came in were kind,” he said. “I ended up being valedictorian.” Now released, Mr. Bou today works as a school community organizer.
