Metropolitan College Tuition Rates
In general, Metropolitan College tuition is set according to the number of credits being taken, plus any additional fees or course costs. The tuition rates listed below are applicable to courses and programs on campus and online.
The following rates apply to fall and spring semesters only. View rates for Summer Term.
Please note: Metropolitan College students who register for courses offered by other
Boston University schools and colleges will be charged the tuition and fees of that school or college.
Fall 2021–Spring 2022
Part-time Status Tuition Rates
To qualify for part-time tuition status, you must be an undergraduate student taking 1–12* credits or a graduate student taking 1–11.5 credits.

- Courses Numbered 100–599: $505 per credit for 1–12 credits
unless otherwise noted
- Courses Numbered 600–999: $940 per credit for 1–11.5 credits
unless otherwise noted
* At 12 credits, undergraduates are full-time status, but pay part-time tuition. At 12.5 credits or above, full-time tuition rates apply.

- Undergraduate: $80
- Graduate: $85 (master’s)/$25 (certificate)
- Student Services Fee: $60 per semester
- Undergraduate Lab Fee: $200 per course, per semester (non-computer science)

Please note: Non-degree students registered for 12 credits will be considered full-time if one or more courses are numbered 600 or higher.
Full-time Status Tuition Rates
To qualify for full-time tuition status you must be an undergraduate student taking at least 12.5* credits or a graduate student taking at least 12 credits. Additional charges apply to all full-time students enrolled in more than 18 credits.

(additional charge of $1,830 per credit in excess of 18 credits)

Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)
Massachusetts law requires all students carrying at least 75 percent of the full-time curriculum to be covered under a qualifying medical insurance plan. If you do not wish to participate in the Boston University Student Health Insurance Plan, you have the opportunity to waive SHIP coverage—provided you have other coverage that meets the comparable coverage requirements.
