Prof. Glenn Stevens Receives 2026 AMS Award for Impact on Teaching and Learning of Mathematics

Prof. Glenn Stevens has been named the recipient of the 2026 AMS Award for Impact on Teaching and Learning of Mathematics! This award recognizes a mathematician who has made significant contributions of lasting value to mathematics education.

Over three decades, Glenn established the honors calculus sequence at BU, founded PROMYS (a summer math program for high school students), launched PROMYS for Teachers to deepen the mathematical engagement of in-service teachers, led the “Focus on Mathematics” initiative (with NSF support) linking K–12 teachers with university faculty, expanded enrichment through PROMYS Math Circles, and brought PROMYS internationally to the United Kingdom, India, and Italy.

AMS writes, “His leadership blends program-building with hands-on teaching and mentorship, embodying the award’s ideals of impactful, sustainable educational advancement.”
