Matthew Schratz

Before joining KHC, Matthew taught at numerous colleges and universities around Boston, including Brandeis University, the BU Writing Program, Emerson College, and the Emerson Prison Initiative. He has taught courses on writing, literature about climate change, universities, board games, Greek and Latin literature, American literature, creativity, and the relationship between the arts and social change. He spent two years as the director of the Brandeis Writing Center.
Matthew received a PhD in English at Brandeis in 2019. His dissertation explored the ways that the novel tries to think about what people do while they’re at work. His current research interests include literature about labor, the climate, narrative theory, criticism, and higher education.
