Attend a public event from our approved list on your own—or with KHC friends!— for co-curricular credit and a fresh perspective on our beautiful city. Read on for Adventure Options, policies, and the form you must fill out to receive co-curricular credit!
Policies
All events are free to attend. Students are responsible for transportation. If you would benefit from a sponsored T ticket, please email Amy Fish, anfish@bu.edu, at least one week before you plan to attend.
You may select CYOA to count for one co-curricular this semester.
To receive co-curricular credit, you must fill out the entire following form, including a selfie at the event.

Adventure Options
Black Heritage Trail
Attend a Black Heritage Trail tour (September)
Black Heritage Trail Tours will occur Wednesday through Sunday at 10am and 1pm, ending for the season on September 28. Make sure to reserve your spot on the webpage.
Boston Public Art Triennial
Boston Public Art Triennial: 2 options (September-October)
Attend an event on the Triennial calendar, such as a workshop, concert, or artist talk.
OR
Visit at least 3 of the public art installations on the Triennial map
- Make sure to take a selfie from each of the 3 pieces that you visit.
- Museums and other landmarks are marked on the map but for this adventure, you should choose 3 public art pieces, specifically.
Boston Book Festival
Boston Book Festival: 2 options (October 25)
Attend a free author talk and browse the exhibit areas. Schedule forthcoming.

Volunteer. Sign up ahead of time; spots limited.
John Shattuck Events
Attend the John Shattuck Coffee & Conversation Event (Dec. 4, 3-4 pm)
Join us for Coffee & Conversation with John Shattuck, human rights leader, international legal scholar, diplomat, and former president of Central European University. This informal gathering is an opportunity for students to speak with Professor Shattuck, ask questions, and engage with his work ahead of his evening lecture, “Resisting Authoritarianism: What the People Can Do,” where he will discuss historical and contemporary movements of resistance against authoritarianism, in the spirit of Howard Zinn’s The People’s History of the United States.
Please RSVP by Monday, December 1. Light snacks and coffee will be served.
Students are encouraged to attend both events and register for the lecture as well.
Attend the John Shattuck Evening Lecture (Dec. 4, 6-7 pm)
On Dec. 4, 2025, John Shattuck, international legal scholar, diplomat, and human rights leader, will be the keynote speaker for the 2025 Howard Zinn Lecture Series at Boston University. The lecture, “Resisting Authoritarianism: What the People Can Do,” will be held in the Tsai Performance Center and livestreamed from 6–7 p.m. Register at the Boston Alumni and Friends event page.
MA Independent Comics Expo
Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo (Saturday, December 6- Sunday, December 7, Fuller Building at Boston University): 2 options
Attend a panel or workshop and browse the exhibitors; schedule forthcoming. RSVP required.

ICA Museum
Visit an exhibit or event at the ICA Museum. Free with BU ID.
