Co-Curricular: Maurice Ravel and France’s Fin de Siècle

Join James Johnson for an exploration of Ravel’s music in the artistic and cultural context of late 19th-century France. Professor Johnson will play and discuss works from Miroirs, Ravel’s 1905 set of piano pieces intended to capture the sound and feel of birds, night moths, a valley of bells, and a boat on the ocean.
