Kilachand Kollaborate: A Social Justice Hackathon

Event Description: A “Hackathon” where students form interdisciplinary teams, create their own problem under a theme related to social justice, and propose a solution to that problem via a presentation in any format. Teams will be judged by an interdisciplinary board of KHC faculty/staff and winners will get prizes.

This event is hosted by KLAB (Kilachand Leadership Advisory Board).

Attendance: (For Kilachand Honors College Students) At the end of the event, a QR will be posted for you to check-in. This QR will expire so please complete the check-in form immediately. You must check-in to earn co-curricular attendance credit for this event.

Schedule:

• Morning Session (10-11 am) – Students form teams (or come as a team) and are introduced to the event, rules, rubric, and judges. They learn what prizes are at stake and what it takes to be successful.
• Downtime (11 am-3 pm) – Teams have time in the Common Room, or outside of it, to brainstorm and make a presentation with their teams. 
• Presentations (3-5 pm) – Teams present in front of a panel of judges and winners are determined.
