Attend a public event from our approved list on your own—or with KHC friends!– for co-curricular credit and a fresh perspective on our beautiful city. Adventure options, policies, and the form you must fill out to receive co-curricular credit are below.
Policies
All events are free to attend. Students are responsible for transportation. If you would benefit from a sponsored T ticket, please email Amy Fish, anfish@bu.edu, at least one week before you plan to attend.
Students may select CYOA to count for one co-curricular this semester.
To receive co-curricular credit, students must complete the form below, including a selfie at the event, within a week of attending their chosen adventure. The last day to fill out the form will be December 18.

Massachusetts Book Awards Longlist Reading, 9/16
Attend the Mass Book Award event on September 16, 2026, from 7:00-8:30 pm, where KHC Lecturer Carroll Beauvais will be honored and perform a reading from her nominated work.
Event Description:
Join GrubStreet and Massachusetts Center for the Book for a reading celebrating the longlist honorees of the 2026 Mass Book Awards! Longlisted authors in poetry, fiction, and nonfiction, Carroll Beauvais, Benjamin Bellet, Imani Perry, Maria Pinto, Milo Todd, and Sam Wachman, will read from their honored titles. Books will be available for purchase from Porter Square Books.
This event is free and open to the public, and registration is requested.

'Poetry is a Culture of People', 9/17
Attend “Poetry is a Culture of People”: A Celebration of Nikki Giovanni and her Archive at Boston University on Thursday, September 17th, 2026, 2-5 pm: Film Screening of “Going to Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project and Talk Back.
There will also be a reception and poetry reading from 5-7 pm. While you are welcome to attend the reception and poetry reading, this portion of the event will not count for CYOA co-curricular credit.
Location: GSU Metcalf Ballroom.
Black Heritage Trail, closes 9/27
Attend a Black Heritage Trail tour. Tours take place Wednesday through Sunday at 10 am & 1 pm. The season closes September 27, 2026.
The Black Heritage Trail® showcases residences and community buildings associated with a Black community that thrived on, and near, the north slope of Beacon Hill before, during, and after the American Civil War. Throughout that time, this community organized for equal rights and access to equal education. Community members championed the movement to abolish slavery and even housed freedom seekers on their journey along the Underground Railroad.
This tour lasts approximately 90 minutes. It begins at the Massachusetts 54th Regiment across the street from the Massachusetts State House and ends at the Museum of African American History, covering about 1.4 miles.

Boston Book Festival, 10/17
Attend at least one author event or volunteer at the Festival (must sign up ahead to volunteer).
The Boston Book Festival gathers the Greater Boston community together with authors around the transformative joys of reading, the power of stories, and the exchange of ideas through a wide range of free programming.

Massachusetts Independent Comic Expo, 12/5-6
Attend the Massachusetts Independent Comic Expo. More detailed requirements will be posted closer to the event.
The Massachusetts Independent Comics Expo (MICE) is the New England area’s premiere event dedicated to the exciting and accessible art form of independent comics and graphic novels. Located at Boston University’s School of Visual Arts, admission is free and open to the public.
At MICE, hundreds of independent comics artists and small press publishers exhibit their work, and thousands of attendees turn out to meet them. With hands-on workshops and inclusive panel discussions, MICE is an event for all ages ready to engage with the latest comics has to offer.

Visit an exhibit or event at the ICA Museum. Free with BU ID.
Harvard Art Museum
Visit at least one exhibit (free with BUID) or attend the monthly evening event (free, pre-registration encouraged as spots are limited).
