Seth Gerber
Co-Owner, MIDA
Seth Gerber is the Co-Owner of MIDA, a celebrated Italian restaurant group with four locations across the Boston area—South End, Newton, East Boston, and Fenway. He is also the proprietor of The Babe, a neighborhood cocktail bar and sandwich shop in historic Salem, MA, named in honor of his eldest son. In 2024, Seth was named a semi-finalist for the James Beard Award in the category of Best Restaurateur.
Seth’s dual passion for culinary creativity and disciplined business strategy was shaped at Boston University, where he graduated with honors from both the School of Hospitality Administration and the Questrom School of Business. While at BU, he received the prestigious Kopf Scholarship, which took him on a tour of premier wineries across the U.S. and Europe and sparked a lifelong dedication to food and beverage excellence.
After graduation, Seth joined the Hillstone Restaurant Group, where he traveled regionally from the group before eventually leading culinary operations at its flagship boutique concept in Santa Monica. In 2014, he returned to Boston to help launch the acclaimed Café ArtScience, a groundbreaking venture founded by inventor and Harvard professor David Edwards.
In 2016, Seth partnered with Douglass Williams and Brian Lesser to open the first MIDA location. Since then, he has played a key role in the brand’s expansion—bringing a systems-driven approach, a culture of genuine hospitality, and a sommelier’s eye for beverage curation. His leadership has helped establish MIDA as a beloved neighborhood centric brand known for warm service and consistently excellent food and drink.
Outside the dining room, Seth serves as an adjunct faculty member at Boston University School of Hospitality Administration, holds an MBA from BU’s Questrom School of Business, is a Certified Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers, and is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt.
