SHA’11 Director of Brand & Creative, Flatiron School
Hometown: San Francisco, CA

Why did you choose SHA? When I first arrived at Boston University I was undeclared and unsure in the School of Arts and Sciences, however after discovering the pineapple on page one of Intro to Hospitality I knew I had found my direction. At SHA I felt closely connected to mission of the school, the coursework applicable for my trajectory beyond education, and to the incredible and accomplished professors.
What is your favorite BU memory?
This may be a sentiment you have heard before but truly my time at BU were some of the best years of my life! I remember my first week as a freshman at FYSOP, eager to make those first critical friends that would last a lifetime. Four years later as a Senior I look back fondly at a Spring Break spent at the Delano hotel in Miami, the benefits of a SHA spring break means cheap hotels and friends always open to exploring the best of the city!
What was your first full-time job, and how did you end up in your current position?
I am currently the Senior Director of Events at IVY, based out of our New York headquarters. I joined IVY when it was a small start-up 3 years ago, As a young professional, I wanted to takes risks and learn everything I could in fast paced real-world setting. This opportunity was just that, a leap a faith and a challenge to be innovative, resourceful, and learn something new every day.
Please describe your current role, and how your SHA education has impacted your career?
IVY is the world’s first Social University, created to unite thoughtful individuals through a lifetime of new inspiration and connections. I lead a national team that curates events in 5 main focus areas; Arts, Entrepreneurship, Policy, Well-being, and Social Impact. Each area consists of unique event platforms, from advanced film screenings, to TED style talks, meditation events to large scale black tie cocktail parties, and truly everything in between. My time at SHA made me realize that I wanted to be in a customer facing and creative industry where no day is like the next.
Any advice for current and prospective students?
