Jim O’Shaughnessy, Principal, Nubble Light Advisors LLC
Jim is a hotel investment executive with over 30 years of industry experience. Prior to his
independent advisory work, Mr. O’Shaughnessy was Managing Director and Hotel Group
Leader at Barings Real Estate where he oversaw a $2.5 B+ USD portfolio of hotels He
managed all facets of the Hotel Group including the sourcing, underwriting, due diligence,
financing and closing of new investments as well as all aspects of hotel asset management and
disposition activities. In a related role, he supervised the underwriting of debt investments for
the firm in the hospitality space and served a Co- Portfolio Manager of the Barings Hotel
Opportunity Venture.
Prior to joining Barings Real Estate in 2000, Jim worked for the North American hotel division of
Accor as a Regional Operations Manager responsible for a portfolio of full-service hotels in the
southern and eastern regions of the U.S. and as a General Manager in full-service hotels in
Texas and Canada. Jim also held operational roles with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.
Jim holds a BA in Government from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
