To prepare for University Orientation and registration as a new student in the College of Engineering, you must complete the following essential steps.
1. Establish a BU E-mail. |
You must establish a BU e-mail address through Information Technology before attending University Orientation. Note: You will not be able to take the Engineering Diagnostic Exam or register for classes without this account. |
2. Complete the New Student Housing Application. |
BU first-year students are required to complete the online New Student Housing Application in order to be assigned to a campus residence. The sooner this application is submitted, the more likely you will be to receive a top choice room assignment. |
3. Register for University Orientation. |
University Orientation is designed to introduce you to life here at Boston University. This program includes meeting and workshops with a wide variety of University representatives, a number of social events, and the opportunity to live on campus. Student leaders will guide you throughout Orientation. Note: Orientation is mandatory for all new students. |
4. Review the College of Engineering Degree Requirements. |
In order to register for courses, it is important that you understand your course selection in the context of your degree program. You will also learn more about the curriculum at University Orientation! |
5. Do you have Advanced Credit? |
Advanced credits may include AP, IB, A-levels, or credit earned from another college or university. To determine if this credit may apply to your ENG program, reference the provided advanced credit guides. Note: advanced credit will be forfeited if you choose to retake the course at Boston University. |
6. Register for Fall Semester Courses. |
Beginning in mid-June you may begin registering for your Fall semester courses online. It is strongly encouraged that you register for classes as soon as possible. Details instructions on course selection and navigating the registration software are included. |
7. Sign the Academic Code of Conduct.

It is your responsibility to abide by the rules of the Academic Code of Conduct throughout your stay at Boston University. Please follow the link above and read and affirm that you will abide these rules. |
