Student Location
The University utilizes Current and Permanent Address for a variety of purposes, including but not limited to disclosures related to professional licensure or certification (“Disclosures”), reporting to the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements, and ensuring compliance with various federal regulations.
Prospective Students
Upon receipt of an application to a Boston University program, Boston University transfers an individual’s Current Address and Permanent Address, if different, from the application into the Student Information System. The University recognizes the U.S. State provided for the Current Address as the Prospective Student’s location for purposes of State and Federal Disclosures.
Currently Enrolled Students
The University considers the first day of class to be the time of initial enrollment for Current Students. Addresses for Current Students are maintained in the Student Information System using information transferred from the application or information provided by Boston University Housing for students who reside in Boston University housing.
All students are required to verify and as necessary to update their Current Address before registering for classes. This includes residential (non-online only) undergraduate students and graduate students who are not living in Boston University housing. Students must also update their Current Address and Permanent Address information through the online student portal when changes occur.
Students are required to enter a Permanent Address when updating the information in the system. For many students who are not living in Boston University housing, but are living in Massachusetts, the Permanent Address may match the Current Address.
