Holly Connell Schaaf’s research focuses on Irish, Scottish, and English literature as well as experiential learning and ESL and Composition pedagogy. Her class “Imagining Animal Minds” enables her to bring her passion for observing and writing about animals into her teaching. The course involves scientific and creative writing supported by interdisciplinary text-based research and observation of animals at local sites. This year she will also continue teaching a WR X course that experiments with changes to the program’s draft-based sequence of revision and an Arts Now Course, “Irish Imagination Now,” in addition to debuting a Mediated Integration course with Allison Blyler that also incorporates experiential, outside-the-classroom learning.
