Professor Eric Kolaczyk has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. He has been recognized for his pioneering contributions to the development of wavelet-based statistical methods and of multi-scale statistical methods, as well as for his more recent transformative research advancing both the development and application of statistical methods for data on networks.

Professor Stephen Grossberg has been named the recipient of the 2017 IEEE Frank Rosenblatt Award for his contributions to understanding brain
cognition and behavior and their emulation by technology.
Awarded annually since 2004, this prize recognizes outstanding scientists who have made contributions to biologically and linguistically motivated computational paradigms and systems.

Professor Jared Weinstein has won an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Research Fellowship in Mathematics.
This Fellowship recognizes Jared for his research in number theory, specifically for his pioneering work in automorphic representation theory. Within this discipline, he has made major advances to the local approaches in class field theory.

Graduate student Matt Holzer has been awarded an NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Mathematics for 2010–2013 to carry out research in the School of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota.

The American Mathematical Society (AMS) is pleased to announce that Baldur Hedinsson has been awarded its 2009 Mass Media Fellowship. Baldur is a PhD student in mathematics at Boston University. He will be working at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for ten weeks over the summer under the sponsorship of the AMS.
