Hunter Glanz, a graduate student in statistics, was selected as one of the fellows for the National Science Foundation (NSF) GK–12 Fellowship program awarded to BU. Hunter will be mentored by Dr. Surajit Ray, assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics.

Graduate student Matt Holzer has been awarded an NSF Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Mathematics for 2010–2013 to carry out research in the School of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota.

The American Mathematical Society (AMS) is pleased to announce that Baldur Hedinsson has been awarded its 2009 Mass Media Fellowship. Baldur is a PhD student in mathematics at Boston University. He will be working at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for ten weeks over the summer under the sponsorship of the AMS.
