Email and Computing at BULaw

Check out the general information about Computers and Technology at BULaw. Computer Services walks you through the process of setting up your BU e-mail account.

Also, refer to BU's PCSC, including information about accessing your BU e-mail account via the web with Silkymail and Horde and dialing into the BU network from home.

You can also access BU licensed databases from off-campus or via the wireless network.

Required Library Sponsored Training

You are required by the Research and Writing Seminar to attend several training sessions which prepare you for your research assignments. Please attend the session scheduled for your Research and Writing Seminar section which will be announced by your instructor and is listed below. If you have a class conflict and cannot attend your section's session, you must make alternate arrangements in advance by contacting Stefanie Weigmann via email at sweig@bu.edu.

Research Tours (September 10-14, 2007)

A tour and overview of the library collection, including how to use print resources for case and statutory research. There will be a sign in sheet for each tour. If you cannot attend the tour scheduled for your seminar, please e-mail Stefanie Weigmann prior to your scheduled tour. All tours meet at the Library circulation desk, 2nd floor of the Law Tower.

Visiting and exchange students should e-mail Stefanie Weigmann to sign up for a tour.

LexisNexis and Westlaw
Training (September 24- October 4, 2007)

Hands on training will help you learn how to use these resources in a time and cost effective manner. Your Westlaw and Lexis passwords along with an information sheet will be distributed in your orientation packets. There will be a sign in sheet for each session.

Please remember: Once you have received your passwords, you must register your LexisNexis and Westlaw passwords. If you fail to register your passwords, LexisNexis and Westlaw may cut off your access.. If you have any trouble with or questions about the registration process, please stop by the reference desk in the Reading Room, 2nd floor of the Law Tower, for assistance. Or, you may contact Russ Sweet, Electronic Services Librarian, at rlsweet@bu.edu, or 353-8853.
