Computer Services: LexisNexis & Westlaw

LexisNexis and Westlaw are commercial electronic services that contain extensive and growing databases of case law, statutes, law reviews and other legal and non-legal materials.  Online news, information, business and other topical databases are available through the Nexis service and Westlaw's DOW JONES and DIALOG services.

Law students receive LexisNexis, Westlaw and Internet instruction during their first year of law school.  Many opportunities are available for advanced and topical training for academic course work and journal activities and to prepare students for summer and permanent employment.  Ask a reference librarian for information about training opportunities or check the training calendar.

Law students receive passwords to access LexisNexis and Westlaw. Use of these databases is restricted to current law students who have completed online training at Boston University School of Law.  In addition, LexisNexis and Westlaw usage is strictly limited by contract to curriculum-related research.  The systems may not be used either directly or indirectly for any client or entity not part of the law school educational program.
