Graduate Studies

The Department of International Relations offers eight Master of Arts degrees, providing students with a range of programs tailored to their specific career goals and needs. These dynamic programs provide students the opportunity to learn about international affairs through study in the IR Department and contiguous study in other Boston University departments.

Information on all of our Master’s programs, including degree requirements, is available through the Programs link. At this time, we do not have a PhD program.

Applicants can find information about our department and application procedures through the Prospective Students link.

Students who are currently enrolled in the Department can find helpful information through the Current Students link. The calendar of deadlines and events can also be found through the Calendar link at the top right of the page.

Information on our course offerings can be found here.

The IR Department’s Graduate Programs are administered through the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (GRS) at Boston University (GRS) and follow all policies and procedures of GRS.

The IR Department at BU is an affiliate member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA), the premier association for graduate programs in International Relations.
